2026-09-09 · market

Brent futures rose 3.3% to settle at $101.21 a barrel, the highest close since 22 May, according to NBC News. CENTCOM said late on 8 September that it had destroyed five Iranian oil tankers, four in the Gulf of Oman and one near Kharg Island, after IRGC attempts to strike a US warship, and released video of the tanker Riesco sinking; the IRGC said it fired on US destroyers, eight tankers and the Al-Azraq base in Jordan. NBC also cited Houthi attacks on Saudi oil facilities the same day.
