Iran offers to reopen Hormuz within seven days if US accepts its conditions

2026-09-25 · diplomatic

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told reporters at the UN General Assembly that under a seven-day plan conveyed to Washington through Qatar the strait would reopen on day six after US steps, with talks on a final deal from day seven; he had first detailed it at a private gathering on 24 September. AP reported the terms included lifting the US naval blockade, waiving sanctions on Iranian oil sales and a ceasefire covering Lebanon, and Araghchi said the US steps were already in the June Islamabad memorandum. The White House said talks through mediators were 'positive and constructive'.
