Oil majors' CEOs skip Riyadh energy congress as minister vows 'serious' response

2026-10-11 · market

The chief executives of ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies, Shell and BP withdrew from the WPC Energy Congress in Riyadh, which opened on Sunday 11 October about 10 km from the attacked airport, the Financial Times reported; Reuters said Chevron's chief was also missing from the agenda released on 12 October, and BP cited travel disruption. Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman told the congress that 'the events of recent weeks are serious' and that the kingdom's 'response must be equally serious'.
